winding down...
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 08:14
i know i reference Danielle LaPorte and her totally awesome site white hot truth.com often... but there's just so few sites that leave one feeling more inspired and motivated for having visited, and her's is one of them... (my other fave is by a girl named jessica who has been working her way through broken love, regained love, and reclaimed love here, by writing it all out with a clarity and bravery that amazes me everytime...) anyways, one of danielle's recent posts talks about making the intention to stop doing certain things as the new year approaches, as opposed to the intention to start. i like this. here's just a few of mine...
- i'm going to stop following so many blogs... only the ones that are truly worthwhile are getting kept around. it's so easy to get lost in all of them, and i think it makes for a less effective me. anyone who follows too many, knows
- i'm going to stop letting these short, dark nw winter days get the better of me. as one of my yoga instructors melina says... we use winters to eat too much, drink too much, and sleep too much... and we ought to be doing just the opposite. i'm finding that hitting that elliptical machine and keeping consistent with yoga is a helpful combatant to the winter downs. in fact, i swear by it.
- i'm going to stop complaining about work.... ok, not that i do that much... but there's just too many people i know that don't have any. and i'm so grateful that i do.
- i'm going to stop using facebook as a way of keeping up with/connect with friends. i'm tired of hearing about my friends getting engaged, taking trips, getting pregnant, losing jobs, or family members, feeling down, or breaking up with boyfriends over a social networking site. i'd like to hang out. and talk. the old fashioned way of finding out what's going on with someone.
- i'm going to stop, not making enough time to read books. i like them too much.

Hey, Brooke! As always, I really love stopping by your site for the beautiful images and thoughtful observations it contains! I just wanted to let you know that this post inspired me to think about my own "Stop Doing" list, and I gave you (and your site) a shoutout on my blog. I hope that the year 2010 finds you happy and healthy! xo
